I am in volleyball season right now, and I am in an extremely tough situation. My team, which consists of six seniors, 5 sophomores, and 1 freshman, is probably the most negative team I have ever been on. Every single practice and/or game, I go into with 100% positive energy. However, when I leave the gym, I feel like I come out with 100% negative energy. I am definitely one of those people who is always happy, and every time I finish volleyball I feel as I am going to cry. The thoughts running through my mind are so negative and awful and I hate that! I try so hard to be myself but I just can't! Every time that I try to think of something happy and hopeful during volleyball, such as God, I find myself pushing him farther and farther away. I don't want that to happen! If anyone could just keep me in their prayers or has advice, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
Thanks to all!

ReplyDeletethat is a tough situation. i feel like i was in the same boat this past year with my team. the majority of them always had something negative and rude to say and it was so stinkin' frustrating because no one wants to be around that.
ReplyDeleteremember that attitudes are contagious and that if you are trying to be a light to these girls, the lord is going to bless that. dont give up because i promise you, one of your teammates is looking on and looking up to you.
choose truth over comfort my sweet friend
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." (Matthew 5:14) I agree with what Amber said...attitudes are contagious, so if you act as Christ's light on your team, others will start noticing that and want to have the same joy that you have because of the Lord. So work on being a LIGHT even though no one else around you seems to be!
ReplyDeleteYeah I totally agree with what Haley and Amber said, too, the only thing I would add is that when you go in with that permanently positive attitude of yours, Be happy and excited and everything, but don't be up in everyone's faces with it. Let them come to you. Not that you were doing that, but just a tip.
ReplyDeleteSOmetimes when I'm having a super good day and one of my friends is not, i feel like they're the debbie downer and i try to cheer them up with my joy. But I have found that that doesn't really work most of the time. Let them see your happiness and positive attitude and let them come to want it on their own. And if they don't, well, you keep it up! You're in my prayers always and i love you hayfield :)
Try reading the Bible and praying before hand, because then you'll be starting it off with God on your heart and mind. Try to memorize verses, or write them on your arm, and pray at the beginning of each game. Take time to just stop (when you're not on the court) and just stop talking to people and pray. Good luck! I know God is with you in this time!
