Fading Treasures

This is just a quick little reminder to all of us that things of this world, material things, don't matter in the long run.

1 John 2:15 "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

James 4:4 "Don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred towards God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes and enemy of God."

Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other."

No matter how much we enjoy material things everyday, we can't let them get a hold in our lives. We must make it to a point where we can honestly say that we will be fine without them.
Just a reminder to keep on loving God and serving the world with his love and forgiveness that we have been given ourselves.
keep on keepin on sweet friends,
Alexa
...hopefully more to come soon...

  1. I love this, i was reading matthew 6 just last night and felt the hard smack of conviction. This is something that is so hard but so important. I lose sight of what really matters and become consumed with the material world. I really appreciate your post. Its so easy to get lost in the rush of things and i often feel like i am the only one who tries to take my focus off worldly things and its hard when people dont understand.

  2. Catherine, i totally don't know you, haha, but i definitely understand what you're saying. it is SO SO easy to get lost in the world, when really we should be lost in Jesus. check out the song "I wanna Get Lost" by Sanctus Real...just made me think of it. I, too, feel that sometimes i am the only one who tries to take my focus off the worldly things and it is incredibly hard. but stay strong and the more you resist worldly desires, the easier it gets. if you ever need help, let me know! i like doing life with other people, like accountability, which is so crucial, so maybe we can hold each other accountable for not loving worldly things..? just a thought.
