Why do you sing?

Hey Quest! I hope all of y'all are doing well!!
So this is gonna be a quicky post, but I hope it gets you thinking....

Why is it you sing?
When you are singing songs in worship, why are you doing it? Is it because you know the words? Is it because you have to sing or you'll get in trouble? Is it because it's just a habit?

I was convicted of this recently. Why do I sing? Because everyone else is doing it? That has been the case. Thankfully, God has revealed to me why I sing. I sing because God is so very very good!! In worship, singing is my favorite part. Why? Because I am expressing my love for my King and my Savior.

So, why is it you sing?

Love y'all!
Krista

  1. I sing because singing fills with so much peace. :) No matter what I'm going through, I can always turning to singing to make me peaceful and joyful again. Reading my Bible and praying definitely bring me closer to God, but I feel like singing is such a unique way of worshiping Him...it brings me so much joy!

  2. oh singing! I love that the Bible says to just make a joyful noise to the Lord! It doesn't have to be pretty and perfect. Sometimes I just sing to Him in the car or like today in the grocery store. (people think I'm crazy) but the awesome thing about worship and singing is it isn't for me. Worship is about praising my Lord! He is so worthy to be praised! Through expressing our love and praise to Him He fills us up!

A challenge that my friend and I were talking about is do we really mean the words we sing? Sometimes I catch myself singing out of routine because I like the song or I've heard it a hundred times, but is that truly my hearts cry? The Lord has to check me on that often. Do I know what the words I sing even mean? Mmmm love it! Thank you Krista for making me think about that! Makes me want to go sing a joyful noise unto the Lord!

  3. I sing to show my devotion for God. I probably wouldn't sing because, trust me, it is not one of my talents. But I know that God would want me to. And some songs, seriously, really hit me hard and I just want to keep reminding myself of what they say throughout the day.
