Salt

Hey Quest!
I've been really busy, so I've had a couple things I've been wanting to talk about, so I'll probably make a couple posts.

First,I've been kinda discouraged lately, because I seem to have lost my passion for God. People talk about falling more in love with God each day, but no matter what, it seems like I'm not in love with him. I read my Bible, and I pray, and sometimes I feel him, but I would rather have just a small amount of love constantly than huge bursts sparatically. And my life is great right now; I should be praising him constantly AND I JUST KEEP FORGETTING!

So I was reading my Bible last night, and it was the parable about being the salt of the earth. Anyway, I was cross-referencing, and I read Luke 14:34-35. "Salt is good, but if salt itself loses its tase, with what can its flavor be restored? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out." Now, this really scared me. Because, frankly, my salt had lost its flavor. Was I only fit to be thrown out?

Then God said, "Dude, I can split seas and make the lame walk. You think I can't restore the flavor of salt?" So there you go. Nothing on THIS world can restore salt's flavor, but GOD can do ANYTHING! He can restore your salt!

I was so encouraged by this, guys, and I hope that, if you're going through the same thing, you're encouraged, too.

I love all you guys! Keep trusting him!

  1. Erin, this is awesome. I recently had a rough patch similar to this, but just keep on keeping on and the Lord will provide. He is faithful no matter how distant you feel from him. ALWAYS. Thank you so much for posting! LOVE IT

  2. I have been going through something similar to this too, so this post was really encouraging to me! I just need to remember to put God first and trust in His will, not my own. I need to know that He is all around me at every moment, and that He can restore me just as he can restore the salt´s flavor. Thanks for posting!

  3. i think we all go through times like this. i remember someone saying how when we get knocked down we tend to sit there and complain about being down or feel really discouraged along with every other emotion in the book. while we are sitting there concerned with the situation and how miserable we are, god is right beside us saying its ok, just get back up.

we all fall, its just a matter of shaking it off and running after him. just get back up.

for the word of the lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does
