so i was reading through psalms and ran across 51:16-17. it says that "he does not delight in sacrifices...the sacrifices of our god are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart" so i wanted to see what you think a broken spirit is.

what do you think it means to have a broken spirit and a contrite heart? ready. set. go.

  1. I think it's like when you 'break' a horse. They are perfectly submissive to their master. They understand that they are not the greatest, and that they are their master's servant. That's how we should be: broken, and completely submissive.

  2. for the contrite heart i think it's just a matter of true repentance...if we really do want to repent and be forgiven. and as for the brokenness, of the heart and the spirit, I really love what Erin said. that's so cool! what i first thought of was coming to the Lord when you're broken because you know he can heal. i don't know, i suppose we are truly broken until we are saved by him.
