Quest, I have a question...

First of all just want to let you guys know that this morning I really was not feeling reading my Bible... but then I got on the blog and reading your posts made me excited again to dive in and let the Lord speak to me. So sweet.

OK so my question is: Why is there so much healing in the life of Jesus and in Acts in crazy awesome ways and why are these types of miracles not as prevalent in my walk and journey with the Lord. I will admit I have never personally seen anything like any of these disciples did. Don't we have the same power as they do? What is going on here?

  1. I wonder the same thing. The healing and casting out demons and all...is not something typically discussed in the christian walk today, but they seem to be growing so much through those experieces. Some might argue that the "supernatural" side of things was just for way back then...but the bible and gods words are eternal, and that applies to us now. I met a leader at my church camp this year who had experienced tongues, healing and all...and his faith was sooo strong. No doubt he was walking side by side with the lord...

What has happened from back then to now that has stopped this crazy awesome stuff from being accepted by the christian life today? Can't the holy spirit fill me up?

  3. Man healing is so cool! I go to a church called the HEALING place so its a topic we discuss all the time. I honestly beielve that healing is still among us and that it still happens today. infact i have seen it happen in one of my friends. She has scoliosis (spelling?) and it was bad and her sholders were all off and just out of wack and she couldnt touch her toes, and at one night service at the awesome camp we went to called YFN (check it out) they had an alter call for anyone who needed healing in there eyes, in there hearts, in there legs, and then he said "come down here if you need healing in your back" and she kinda sprung up and walked down, well they laid hands on her and prayed for her and jsut spoke and declared healing over her. and then after a few minutes the speaker told all of the people who just got prayed for, to do something that they couldnt do before, so my friend reached down and she could touch her toes with out pain and her sholders didnt seem as crooked and she could stand taller. it was amazing. I know these things still take place todaym i just feel like people dont beileve that they wont happen or that they cant so they dont let it, we know that God can heal them in an instant by himself but he wants so use us and work through us. nad we have to let him, we have to be obiedent. does that help at all??

    sorry i cant spell btw!

  5. do you think it's because the apostles had no doubt whatsoever that Christ was living and working within them, and that they KNEW that He was giving them the power to do such healings? and they did not doubt at all?? because, i think we know that Christ indwells within us, but we doubt, even the smallest fraction of a bit, that we could do those types of things, because they seem unnatural or unrealistic...and that doubt causes us to not be able to. maybe we are too idealistic?
